Christmas

Talk about a hog-podge…Christmas is for sure the ultimate pot roast of holidays! Throw a little bit of everything in from left-over winter festivals everywhere and viola…you’ve got one big pot of Christmas! Babies in mangers on front lawns everywhere, sugar plums dancing, striped candies galore, wrapped boxes stored under trees or mysteriously dropped down chimneys, sprigs of parasitic plants hung from doorways to inspire kissing, jolly bearded men inviting you to sit on their lap, gravity defying horned animals, traveling bands of persons in song, strings of tiny lights hanging from gutters or bound around fir trees, and lead-weight cakes packed with over-sweetened fruit. Yes, Christmas is a wonderfully strange mix of magic and joy all wrapped up in one big, bright holiday package. Perhaps the lyrical words of an awe struck Jack Skellington pondering Christmas and all its merriment and meaning say it best…“What’s this?! What’s this?!...And who would ever think…And WHY?! ”
